Mensana support in orthopedics

Preparing the body for the procedure. Protecting the person throughout the journey.

In orthopedics, a well-prepared patient is not just a better-operated patient. They are a more serene person, a faster recovery, a safer return home and a clinic that can sustain the ambulatory shift without ever compromising care quality.

Our approach in 2 minutes

From one patient to another, undergoing orthopedic surgery is not the same journey. Your body, your state of mind, your fitness level, your support network, everything matters. That is why we offer you the opportunity to prepare for your intervention in the best possible conditions.

Did you know?

The same surgery does not have the same impact on each patient.

Prior physical fitness, daily pain, baseline psychological state, support from those around you vary greatly from one person to another.

Your wait: an opportunity, not lost time

Waiting for orthopedic surgery can feel endless. Yet it is your most valuable resource. A few weeks to a few months can transform your body, your mindset, and your ability to recover. Mensana uses that time with you: targeted exercises, nutrition, sleep, mental preparation. You are no longer waiting, you are preparing.

A journey that takes care of you, before, during, and after

Orthopedic surgery does not affect the body alone. It touches your mobility, your autonomy, your sleep, your morale. We support each of these dimensions, with rigor, with tenderness, and without ever leaving you alone.

  1. Preparing your body and mind for the procedure

    1

An exercise program tailored to your condition and your procedure, targeted nutritional recommendations, sleep guidance. The person who arrives on the day of surgery will not be the same as today: they will be stronger, better equipped to recover.

  2. Easing your mind

    2

Surgical anxiety is legitimate; it is also workable. Breathing techniques, psychological support, mindfulness, time with the team: we work with you so you enter the OR with confidence, not fear.

  3. Preparing your return home

    3

Recovering at home means recovering better, provided you are ready. Practical home adjustments, pain management plan, remote nurse follow-up, team availability at any time: the comfort of your recovery starts before you even leave the clinic.

Exceptional orthopedics for your patients, a real advantage for your clinic

Modern orthopedics imposes a unique demand: reconciling volume, OR turnover, and the ambulatory shift with uncompromising care quality and a noteworthy patient experience. Mensana is designed to help you hold this equation, without compromise on either side.

  1. Securing your ambulatory shift

    1

The key to a successful ambulatory orthopedic pathway is not played on the day of surgery, it is played weeks before, in the physical and psychological preparation of the patient. When this preparation is rigorous, unplanned overnight stays become rare, post-op complications decline, and your teams work in a more predictable environment.

  2. Safely including complex patients (ASA 3)

    2

Many orthopedic patients present with comorbidities that would exclude them from ambulatory pathways today. With calibrated multidisciplinary preparation, upstream comorbidity optimization, remote post-op monitoring, personalized anesthesia protocols, complex profiles can also benefit from a safe pathway, with equivalent clinical outcomes.

  3. Lightening your team's workload

    3

A well-informed, reassured, and prepared patient calls less, worries less, takes less of your front desk's and nurses' time. Your teams can focus on what they were trained for, caring, rather than managing questions that could have been anticipated.

Your Mensana journey, step by step

A journey that unfolds in several moments, prehabilitation (assessment, education, preparation), the day of your surgery, and your return home, so you never feel alone, and so every step is lived in full confidence.

  1. Assessment

Your journey begins by logging in to your Mensana online space. Through the platform, a dedicated nurse is available to guide you through the steps leading up to your surgery.

To get started well, we take the time to get to know you through targeted questionnaires and meetings with our specialists. Together we assess your physical condition, your functional level, your daily pain, and your anxiety, to build a plan that respects who you are.

  2. Education

This is the time to learn about your procedure and your body. In your Mensana Space, you'll find written and video content, targeted exercises, and time to engage with the team. No question is too small; no concern is set aside.

  3. Preparation

This is the time for action. Building on your assessment and the information gathered through our questionnaires, your Mensana team fine-tunes a personalized preparation plan with you: physical exercises, nutritional guidance, anxiety management techniques, practical organization for your return home. On the big day, you arrive ready, physically and psychologically.

  4. Day of surgery

The big day arrives, and you experience it differently. Because the essential information has already been shared with you calmly, this day can be devoted to your final questions and to signing consent, with a peaceful mind.

  5. Your return home

A rapid, comfortable recovery within an outpatient pathway. On the day of your surgery, everything is done to minimize anesthesia side effects and optimize pain management. The goal: that you get home quickly, and well.

The Mensana advantage

Once these five steps are complete, you find yourself back home, safely and in the comfort of your own environment, to begin a gentler, often faster recovery than you imagined.

The questions you often ask

  • What if, unexpectedly, I am not able to leave the clinic on the day of surgery?

If it is impossible for you to leave the same day as the procedure, we have overnight accommodations available. You will never be left alone. Your safety is our priority. Together, we will understand what is preventing you from leaving, and do whatever is needed to resolve the situation.

  • Is it possible that my pain is not well controlled?

Occasionally, pain levels may be higher than expected. Pain is a complex phenomenon, which is precisely why Mensana invests so much in preparing and supporting you. If necessary, and with your consent, we will use additional anesthesia techniques and adjust medication to your specific needs, to bring pain back to an acceptable level.

  • Will Mensana follow up in the days after the procedure?

Absolutely. With Mensana, your surgical experience does not end at discharge. In fact, a fast discharge is only possible if you are comfortable and if it is safe. At any time, you can reach us through our platform. Our nurse will also contact you at various points in the days following your discharge.

  • Is it normal to worry about being uncovered during the procedure?

It is entirely normal not to be comfortable with this. Please know that Mensana is the guardian of your privacy throughout your surgical experience. You will never be uncovered unless strictly necessary, for example for asepsis reasons (disinfection of the surgical site). If this is the case, we will ensure it is for as short a time and as minimally as possible. Respect and compassion are two fundamental values for Mensana.
